How to buy Vintage

Hello All,

So sorry for the lack of posting, I have been on holidays and just got back.. But when I was away, a  Vintage store Geelong Vintage Market was down the road from my hotel and since then was inspired to do a how to check list kinda post for you all: I purely love vintage as 99% of the time, the quality is much better. Whether it be jewls, bags, shoes or clothing.  They just don’t make it like they use to.

Now, if you checked my Instagram: Follow me I had a good few options which had made the decision hard than ever. I didn’t have much money on me which had made it harder.

Anyway thought i’d give you some tips on how I bought my goodies, these have helped me: (Note: these tips help generally when shopping, not just for vintage)

1) What’s your favourite Era of vintage? Check out the store first to get a good feel what they sell.   My favourite era is from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. .

2) Are you checking out something in particular? I.e bag, jewls, clothes etc – make sure you know what you want to buy as this will make your decision making alot easier.

3) Know what works for you.

4) The Hype of getting vintage can be overwhelming, so  I’d recommend getting somethng you can honestly wear over and over again. Try finding your own classic. Like for me, I am not a fan of the gold these days but somehow vintage gold looks so much better quality.

Now, the options at the Geelong Vintage market were endless and I could’ve been real bad and bought the whole store but lucky for me, I have self control  and was able to walk away with some good finds.

Hopefully everyone has had a beautiful start to 2017.

P.s This is 1 of the looks I’ve styled as of apart of the launch of my new Category named “My classics”.  This category is dedicated to Classic pieces in your wardrobe that every fashionista needs.. Anyway this is look 1, so stay tuned for the rest <3.

How to : Pearl Choker

Hey all,

If you noticed I posted on Insta the other weekend ( check Chicgeek85 / OOTN ) I had did a look for my cousin’s pre wedding party. I wore a simple blush skirt with off the shoulder top and my vintage pearl necklaces with my Chanel brooch. So many people complimented on my necklace but in fact, they were 2 pearl necklaces and a brooch.  It’s super easy and here we go:

** Please note, I’ve used my wrist as an example of a neck*

Step 1: I grabbed 2 necklaces (1 vintage and 1 fake) pearl necklaces in order to gain a layers effect.

Step 2:  Wrap around your neck until comfortable.

Step 3: Grab your brooch and clip it over your necklace like so.

Step 4: And voile!

Note: I’d wear this with something open neck like off the shoulder top that  I got from Boohoo a while ago, just so I could show it off. Something timeless, chic, classic and elegant but still on trend. (Just refer to my outfit as mentioned earlier)

Hope everyone had a beautiful new years and I look forward to working with you all in 2017.

Thank you so much for your support. 🙂

Take care xx

Chanel-esque

The Little Black Jacket: One of my favourites. Obviously black goes with everything and yet can be so versatile and simply chic but one of the many reasons I bought this from Zara a few years ago, was it looks just so luxe.

From afar, it looked like tweed & I have a thing for textured classics like this Little Black Jacket. Something oh so classic and my version of timeless.

As you can start to see, I love my pearl necklace’s so I decided to style it abit differently and add it as an anklet.  Love my le-boy bag? My aunt from overseas bought this for me as my 30th birthday present, as everything in Europe including your designer items, are cheaper.

Location:  Of course, posing in none other than Chanel Melbourne, one of my favourite buildings in Melbourne.

As per the words of Jasmine from Sweetaholic Beauty  (the gorgeous one behind the lense) – very Chanel.

Style has no price tag

Now everyone knows I am abit of a “shopaholic” ok.. maybe not a bit but alot.!  😉 A true fashionista, my shopping finds were ahead of the game.

But now that I am in my thirties, my style spending has definetly changed and I now embracing the philosophy “Style has no price tag”.

With this, I found a Factory outlet that is called Beaches Fashion

All of their items are on sale and have NEVER BEEN WORN.  (And by sale I mean from $3 –  $6 and the most I’ve spent was $15 – which is this skirt I am wearing)

Now I am firm believer that every fashionista should have a good balance of high end as well as the cheaper every day tee’s and skirts.

Remember it’s not what you have but how you wear it 🙂

The Shoes were $9 but not from Beaches Fashion. I bought these purely because of the chain & they kinda look like Giuseppe Zanotti.

Hope all is well with everyone

My Autumn / Winter Essential – The Blazer

Brrr.. You feel that winteresque chill? & you know what? I LOVE IT!

Decided to announce on the blog that I am a lover of Autumn / Winter looks and styles. Why? The layering and the luxe feel of a nice warm scarf & then adding a nice blazer (or coat) with thick high denier stockings, boots (ankle boots, thigh high boots and oohhhh don’t forget over the knee too) with some hot coffee, just makes me soo happy!

But for today’s post, I decided to use my favourite all time kinda jacket, the Blazer! (The Black Blazer in this case)

I can never have too many (trust me I have about 5 – differnt colours and styles)  but with this simple black blazer I was able to accessorise this a bit differently by adding some stud earrings to give it some oommfff with the Chanel brooch. Just for today’s shoot, I wore it with my off the shoulder top that I’ve been wearing alot lately with jeggings (or jeans if you prefer ) .

Hope you enjoy this outfit as much as I feel wearing it, which is why I’ve added this to the Simple Saturday Night Section of my blog .. Enjoy

Love Jenet xx

Hello All,

As we all know, I love black!

But for everyone’s entertainment I thought I’d wear this colourful skirt on my blog.

I bought this for one night as it screamed to me and required some attention. So here we go.

As you can tell, I decided to keep the top & everything else simple as the skirt was “my focus”.
