Rockabilly Vintage

Hey guys,

This will be one of my last photo shoots towards this blog but wanted to show you what I’ve been working on.

I recently collaborated with Rockamummy as we’ve wanted to create something that combines our 2 loves for Vintage and Rockabilly.

She made this entire outfit herself and took into consideration my battle of the bulge 😂

Anyway I don’t have many words to write for this blog post but just want to say thanks to Jess and the team of people that helped me and supported me through this shoot.

We had so much fun! As you can probably tell 😂

P.s I’m going to re-style these items and incorporate them into different outfits so stay tuned for that ❤️

Thanks all x

First Impressions, Last

Hello there,

How are we all? I was discussing with my little cousin the other day about first impressions and job interviews & how I remember this training course my high school sent me to.

It was about first impressions. Here is the scenario, now picture this:

I am a little 15 year old attending my course, catching the train into the big city. We attended this classroom with our school uniform and of course acting like the most immature little shits ever. LOL Anyway, one of the main lessons I learnt from this course, was the most important one of my life! & here it goes:

The first impression of yourself to someone else, is the most valuable one you can make. Choose wisely.

So as an experiment, he told us for tomorrow’s class , to not wear our school uniform but to wear conservative professional clothes. Watch how people react to you on the train. You wont be those little sh*** catching the train where everyone that works in the city shudders about, you will be treated rightfully.

So wow, did that work more than ever! I saw no adult roll their eyes or give me any smirks but I did see a lot of respect. He was right !

So my moral of this story: look at your outfit and yourself and think “what is my first impression? What does it say ?”
Comment below and tell me what you think? Do you agree ?

Girls night in Winter

Hiya,

Thanks for tuning in. Have been so busy with my new place (my first home, EEEKKK!) I can’t wait to show you all, photos of how I’ve styled it.

In the mean time, thought I’d smash out some outfits. Decided to do something a bit more of a going outfit but still chic, elegant, classy but FUN.  More for drinks with the girls, out for dinner or something in the night time. It’s winter here in Australia and I am struggling to dress for going out whilst not looking frumpy.

This is my personal style. This is what I find works for me. I don’t ever have the intention of looking like someone else just because everyone else is dressing like them.

I don’t ever follow trends that don’t work for me. If I liked a trend, i’d make it work for me.  in this case for this outfit, it was the off the shoulder top and bodycon midi skirt.

This has been my philosophy since day 1 of this blog and it will still be the same when I re-brand and beyond.

Have you found any newest trends that you can work into your wardrobe and some you wouldn’t dare try? Would love to hear from you! This question goes out the boys too!

Simply Styled in Print

Hi guys,

If any of you know me, I love interacting with different nationalities, religions and of course different aspects of life. It’s nothing more enjoyable for me as I find it mentally stimulating.

Now collaborating is no different. Meeting new bloggers in the industry is such a thrill for me. It’s great to know what makes them start a blog. Why they’re doing it etc, what makes them tick and what inspires them and etc.

So when Edwina came down to Melbourne and we decided to do an impromptu shoot by using Melbourne’s Lane ways.

Check out the look below:

Her instagram link is here for you to check out 🙂 Enjoy! Style Decoy  (I also got the chance to take an outfit of the day for Edwina. Have a look at my photography)

This look is for a Simple Saturday and a nice look for a hot steamy Melbourne night. #summervibes 🙂

Take care all

How to buy Vintage

Hello All,

So sorry for the lack of posting, I have been on holidays and just got back.. But when I was away, a  Vintage store Geelong Vintage Market was down the road from my hotel and since then was inspired to do a how to check list kinda post for you all: I purely love vintage as 99% of the time, the quality is much better. Whether it be jewls, bags, shoes or clothing.  They just don’t make it like they use to.

Now, if you checked my Instagram: Follow me I had a good few options which had made the decision hard than ever. I didn’t have much money on me which had made it harder.

Anyway thought i’d give you some tips on how I bought my goodies, these have helped me: (Note: these tips help generally when shopping, not just for vintage)

1) What’s your favourite Era of vintage? Check out the store first to get a good feel what they sell.   My favourite era is from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. .

2) Are you checking out something in particular? I.e bag, jewls, clothes etc – make sure you know what you want to buy as this will make your decision making alot easier.

3) Know what works for you.

4) The Hype of getting vintage can be overwhelming, so  I’d recommend getting somethng you can honestly wear over and over again. Try finding your own classic. Like for me, I am not a fan of the gold these days but somehow vintage gold looks so much better quality.

Now, the options at the Geelong Vintage market were endless and I could’ve been real bad and bought the whole store but lucky for me, I have self control  and was able to walk away with some good finds.

Hopefully everyone has had a beautiful start to 2017.

P.s This is 1 of the looks I’ve styled as of apart of the launch of my new Category named “My classics”.  This category is dedicated to Classic pieces in your wardrobe that every fashionista needs.. Anyway this is look 1, so stay tuned for the rest <3.

Chanel-esque

The Little Black Jacket: One of my favourites. Obviously black goes with everything and yet can be so versatile and simply chic but one of the many reasons I bought this from Zara a few years ago, was it looks just so luxe.

From afar, it looked like tweed & I have a thing for textured classics like this Little Black Jacket. Something oh so classic and my version of timeless.

As you can start to see, I love my pearl necklace’s so I decided to style it abit differently and add it as an anklet.  Love my le-boy bag? My aunt from overseas bought this for me as my 30th birthday present, as everything in Europe including your designer items, are cheaper.

Location:  Of course, posing in none other than Chanel Melbourne, one of my favourite buildings in Melbourne.

As per the words of Jasmine from Sweetaholic Beauty  (the gorgeous one behind the lense) – very Chanel.

Chic Simple Shopping Tips

So we all know how convenient online shopping is and I got to admit, staying home in my pj’s , in my trackies having a hot tea, coffee or wine is tempting and super convenient but like Carrie Bradshaw

Shopping is my cardio

Even though I am not spending at the moment in time & not an official stylist, here are some tips below in regards to shopping:-

  1. Wear your comfiest shoes & in saying that, comfy clothes for the day.
  2. Get your good bra on. (I personally prefer a nude strapless one, cause the last thing you need is to try something on with the wrong bra)
  3. I am going to state the obvious and say good underwear.
  4. No make up (if you’re on a shopping spree like most girls do, the last thing you need is to have your make up rubbed off. )
  5. Take a cross-body bag. Why? well, you don’t want to be fretting over your bag when you are in the middle of your shopping game.
  6. Make sure you know what you want, when shopping. It can be a recipe for disaster if you don’t know (Making a list is a better idea). Refer to my Post about me being the Chanel belt (aka my baby). As you read it, you can tell my game plan was on and I knew what I wanted) .. Chanel
  7. Take a level headed chick with you (i.e, me 😉 ) as it is really helpful for when something can be tempting & in the end of the day, there is no point buying something if you’re not going to wear it. (TRUST ME ON THIS)
  8. Someone honest too. No point in buying something if it don’t look good – All sales people want you to buy it, no matter how it looks.
  9. But I think shopping alone is more fun than bringing someone so don’t stress if you’re alone.
  10. Get your coffee hit first, then hit the shops.

and last but not least

11. HAVE FUN.  🙂

A friend of mine wanted me to express my “casual look” , so I styled this look for today’s shoot. Something abit more casual than the rest but still chic and classy ❤
