Girls night in Winter

Thanks for tuning in. Have been so busy with my new place (my first home, EEEKKK!) I can’t wait to show you all, photos of how I’ve styled it.

In the mean time, thought I’d smash out some outfits. Decided to do something a bit more of a going outfit but still chic, elegant, classy but FUN.  More for drinks with the girls, out for dinner or something in the night time. It’s winter here in Australia and I am struggling to dress for going out whilst not looking frumpy.

This is my personal style. This is what I find works for me. I don’t ever have the intention of looking like someone else just because everyone else is dressing like them.

I don’t ever follow trends that don’t work for me. If I liked a trend, i’d make it work for me.  in this case for this outfit, it was the off the shoulder top and bodycon midi skirt.

This has been my philosophy since day 1 of this blog and it will still be the same when I re-brand and beyond.

Have you found any newest trends that you can work into your wardrobe and some you wouldn’t dare try? Would love to hear from you! This question goes out the boys too!

Simply Styled in Print

Hi guys,

If any of you know me, I love interacting with different nationalities, religions and of course different aspects of life. It’s nothing more enjoyable for me as I find it mentally stimulating.

Now collaborating is no different. Meeting new bloggers in the industry is such a thrill for me. It’s great to know what makes them start a blog. Why they’re doing it etc, what makes them tick and what inspires them and etc.

So when Edwina came down to Melbourne and we decided to do an impromptu shoot by using Melbourne’s Lane ways.

Check out the look below:

Her instagram link is here for you to check out 🙂 Enjoy! Style Decoy  (I also got the chance to take an outfit of the day for Edwina. Have a look at my photography)

This look is for a Simple Saturday and a nice look for a hot steamy Melbourne night. #summervibes 🙂

Take care all

How to buy Vintage

Hello All,

So sorry for the lack of posting, I have been on holidays and just got back.. But when I was away, a  Vintage store Geelong Vintage Market was down the road from my hotel and since then was inspired to do a how to check list kinda post for you all: I purely love vintage as 99% of the time, the quality is much better. Whether it be jewls, bags, shoes or clothing.  They just don’t make it like they use to.

Now, if you checked my Instagram: Follow me I had a good few options which had made the decision hard than ever. I didn’t have much money on me which had made it harder.

Anyway thought i’d give you some tips on how I bought my goodies, these have helped me: (Note: these tips help generally when shopping, not just for vintage)

1) What’s your favourite Era of vintage? Check out the store first to get a good feel what they sell.   My favourite era is from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. .

2) Are you checking out something in particular? I.e bag, jewls, clothes etc – make sure you know what you want to buy as this will make your decision making alot easier.

3) Know what works for you.

4) The Hype of getting vintage can be overwhelming, so  I’d recommend getting somethng you can honestly wear over and over again. Try finding your own classic. Like for me, I am not a fan of the gold these days but somehow vintage gold looks so much better quality.

Now, the options at the Geelong Vintage market were endless and I could’ve been real bad and bought the whole store but lucky for me, I have self control  and was able to walk away with some good finds.

Hopefully everyone has had a beautiful start to 2017.

P.s This is 1 of the looks I’ve styled as of apart of the launch of my new Category named “My classics”.  This category is dedicated to Classic pieces in your wardrobe that every fashionista needs.. Anyway this is look 1, so stay tuned for the rest <3.

How to : Pearl Choker

Hey all,

If you noticed I posted on Insta the other weekend ( check Chicgeek85 / OOTN ) I had did a look for my cousin’s pre wedding party. I wore a simple blush skirt with off the shoulder top and my vintage pearl necklaces with my Chanel brooch. So many people complimented on my necklace but in fact, they were 2 pearl necklaces and a brooch.  It’s super easy and here we go:

** Please note, I’ve used my wrist as an example of a neck*

Step 1: I grabbed 2 necklaces (1 vintage and 1 fake) pearl necklaces in order to gain a layers effect.

Step 2:  Wrap around your neck until comfortable.

Step 3: Grab your brooch and clip it over your necklace like so.

Step 4: And voile!

Note: I’d wear this with something open neck like off the shoulder top that  I got from Boohoo a while ago, just so I could show it off. Something timeless, chic, classic and elegant but still on trend. (Just refer to my outfit as mentioned earlier)

Hope everyone had a beautiful new years and I look forward to working with you all in 2017.

Thank you so much for your support. 🙂

Take care xx

Interview with Lady Melbourne: Blogger Style

When I think of Blogging as a full time job, I see it as a dream of mine that I am planning to make a reality but there when you look at the Melbourne blogging scene, there are some that are just see as the leader of the pack. She has been blogging her personal style for 9 years. She is the ultimate #bloggergoals as far as I am concerned. Her name is Lady Melbourne

finally had the chance to interview her. . Have a read and get inspired by her journey:

1) Lady Melbourne : love your name. how did you come up with it?

Well, I’m ladylike and I’m from Melbourne – it was that simple!

2) Cant believe you’ve been blogging for 9 years. How do you find the inspiration for shoots/looks?

When you put it like that it seems like an age(!), but I truly love it. I’ve been reading magazines since I was about 14, and now that the digital age is upon us inspiration is a click away. I spend a lot of time of Pinterest!

3 ) Your style is very unique and lady like (my favourite) whats your ultimate style investment?

I wear a fair bit of vintage, and while I try to buy good quality vintage clothing I invest in my accessories. I only buy leather shoes and handbags and don’t mind splurging on accessories like a good necklace or cashmere scarf.

4) What comes first to styling your outfits.?

I tend to be aware of the dress code where ever I’m going and then depending on whether it’s a fashion, art or food event I decide on the ‘mood’ of my outfit. I’m very much led by how I feel at the time of getting dressed. That and the weather of course!

5) Any style or fashion mistakes you have shamelessly done? Oh go on! 😉

I’d like to say that all of my fashion choices have gotten me to the point I am now so I can’t name any ‘mistakes’ as such. There are things I look back on with regret – ultra pointy kitten heels in the early 2000s for example. When I look at pictures of those I cringe!

6) On the flipside any mistakes you glad you have made?

No mistakes per se, but I’ve always experimented and I think not being afraid to do so has meant I’ve been free to dress as I please and truly find my own style.

7) Who is your style icon?

Hands down Catherine Baba! Following that Coco Chanel and the character Daisy Buchanan from F.Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby.’

8) Favourite Aussie Designer?

I love Zimmerman

9) Mini, Midi or Maxi?

10) Any style or fashion advice for the next generation?

Never be afraid to experiment and wear what you want. Don’t be put off by what other people might think or say – if you love it, wear it.

11) What made you decide to start the blog?

I was running my own accessories label under my name, but I was looking to do something further with my fashion experience. My friend sent me two links to blogs from America and one in Oslo. Remember, 10 years ago this kind of thing was extrememly unusual, particularly in Australia but I was immediately inspired by these fashionable women who were styling their own clothes and self publishing. I went home that night and started Lady Melbourne.

12) Your highlight of your blogging career?

Winning ‘Best Fashion Blog’ Asia Pacific region in 2009 really changed things for me because it put the blog on an international platform. I’ve had some incredible experiences through blogging, but the other highlight has been having my daughter and seeing how it’s changed my perspective on the fashion industry.

13) Most recent purchase?

A pair of deliciously soft suede loafers from Sam Edelman and I’m got my eye on a SELF PORTRAIT dress for Christmas Day.

14) Any advice for us newby bloggers?

Create as much original content as possible. Write your own stories rather than regurgitate press releases, take your own photos even if it’s just with an iPhone. Having ownership over your own content means you can set yourself up for a much longer career.

Thank you so much Lady Melbourne for agreeing to be apart of this interview.

Happy Socks

I am the type of person that has NEVER EVER won a competition. EVER EVER.. The only competition I’ve ever worn was getting my free coffee from my coffee card . But when I suscribed to Cocktail Revolution  website, I didn’t expect to win a competition for a pack of Happy Socks and Jocks.

I decided to do a shoot with a pair of heels and some socks. Something a bit different to add to your outfit. I was wearing this with a simple LBD.

You should probably know by now, I am all about that unique style

Please note: these were one of the pair, that I won in a competition.

Take care all

A Classic and Timeless (see what I did there 😉 )  accessory. Up until a few years ago, I started wearing again. It gives an ultimate sophisticated look and a luxe one at that.
